Abstract
The clinical study on 39 patients with the episode of facial palsy were examined to determine the effect of asupunctwe and other therapies on facial palsy at Awpuncture Therapy Room of Won Kwang Oriental Medical University Hospital in Kwangju.
The patients were treated with acupuncture, blood motivation(blood letting) and physical therapy over the period Apr.1 to Jun.30, 1981
When this study was reviewed, the following results were obtained:
1) Atlack rate of facial palsy was 61.5% of 39 subjects in male and 38.5% in female.
2) The highest age incidence group was productive age group : youths and manhood, which amounted to 61.5% of total subjects.
3) Early treatment had favorable results : the sooner the treatment began, the more shortly and easily patients reavered.
4) Blood motivation (blood letling) therapy was effective to relieve migraine and facial neuralgia in early stage.
5) Complete cure value was 82.1% ; the rest was those who ceased to be treated.
6) The completely cured patients were given average 10.8 times treatment, which required about 20 days.
